Touching reflections in Bergdorf Goodman

New York

754 Fifth Avenue, NY 10019

This May, Zieta Studio, in collaboration with the Bureau of Merchants, joins the iconic luxury department Bergdorf Goodman Men’s Store. The store’s famed window displays have been fixtures on Fifth Avenue since the early 20th century.  This is our second collaboration with BG - last year Zieta objects were showcased in its Men’s Store window display, and this time we invite you inside the department store (3rd floor), where we continue to tell the narrative of our fascination with metal and luxurious design throughout the entire month of May.
Color, surfaces, icons
The Bergdorf Goodman exhibit is a journey into the world of color, reflections, and FiDU steel deformation technology. It offers an intimate experience with the power of reflected light on polished surfaces and introduces design icons like the PLOPP stool—winner of the Red Dot Award, part of the permanent collection at the Pompidou Center in Paris, and a technological manifesto.

Constellated metal droplets

Zieta Studio’s steel mirrors are not just for reflection. They tell a story of the evolution of water droplets, from smooth dew to angular edges of ice shelves. Their unique forms blend bionic aesthetics with the narrative of steel deformation. At Bergdorf Goodman, the Tafla mirrors mesmerize in Deep Space Blue finishes. These subtle, gem-like wall objects enrich spaces as unique constellations or as standalone sculptural pieces.

The G-Story: Bionic Individualism
The G-series represents our fascination with bionics and the potential of parametric design. Their bases twist under tabletops like tree roots, alluding to organic forms and the endless variability of natural processes. Bionic objects are created using FiDU technology combined with a dedicated parametric algorithm. The G-Table and G-Console marry contemporary sculptural forms with individually designed tabletops. They embody a harmonious dialogue between metal, wood, stone, and concrete.

Because Less Is Less

Zieta Studio’s ethos revolves around minimalism in form and material, starting from the conceptual level. We work with materials while also reducing the virtual space required for storage. The primary goal of FiDU technology is to minimize energy consumption and metal use as much as possible. Thus, Oskar Zięta’s work isn’t just about aesthetics and form. It engages in a profound conversation with audiences about responsible consumption and production—for future generations.
Large-scale innovation
The essence of Zieta Studio’s success lies in the advanced FiDU steel deformation technology. Years of material research, initiated by Oskar Zięta during his doctoral studies at ETH Zurich, are now synonymous with future-oriented technology. You can learn more about FiDU in Episode 2 of the American series Europe By Design, which will air on 22 CBS-owned local TV stations across America this year and is available online at Europe By Design: Innovations!

Zieta Studio in New York

While in New York, we invite you to the 35th edition of ICFF, North America’s leading interior design trade show. This year we’re exploring polished stainless steel with shades of gold, deepening the concept of “less is less” and environmental responsibility. You can find us at the Javits Center from May 19 to May 21, 2024.
